Quarterfinal #4 Fight: Alistair Overeem vs. Tyrone Spong:

Round 1: Here we go! Overeem bullies Spong to the corner instantly and looks for a downing knee. Overeem is way bigger than Spong, and just bullying him around the ring. Overeem tries to clinch and knee, but as you may recall -- the rule was changed. He can't actually use both hands and clinch. Spong lands on Overeem, and UH OH.... Overeem looks stunned. Spong turning it on, but Overeem is recovering. Spong's overhand lands again... and Spong is throwing heavy blows. Overeem doesn't seem to be concerned, just content with defending. He's trying to hug Spong and bomb him with knees in the midsection. Overeem double hands a clinch, and gets warned again. Second warning. Overeem comes out with a flying knee, misses. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Tyrone Spong.

Round 2: Overeem comes out quickly, but Spong counters his aggression with kicks. Spong's speed is working nicely against Overeem, but it will only take one blow from Overeem to down Spong. Overeem is trying to box more now, which is a good thing since his knees are becoming problematic to the rules. Overeem throwing some nice combinations up top, and Spong is just standing toe-to-toe... eating some overhands to the side of the head. Big overhand, and Spong looks dazed. Alistair is trying to land the knockout blow, just misses. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Alistair Overeem.

Round 3: More of Spong trying to stay close to Overeem, but he's eating some blows on the inside now that Overeem is a bit more hesitant to use his hands to clinch. Spong is stuck in the corner now, and Overeem is bombing Spong. Big uppercut, and Spong is visibly hurting. Alistair is beasting Spong, and Spong falls into the ropes. He stays standing, but gets a standing count. Spong is in bad shape, his eye is brutalized. BOOM!! Overhand right, and Spong is wobbly. Back into the corner again, and Spong smartly circles out. Overeem turns and is now backing Spong into the corner, but Spong pushes. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-8 Alistair Overeem.

Alistair Overeem def. Tyrone Spong via unanimous decision.

Quarterfinal #3 Fight: Gokhan Saki vs. Daniel Ghita

Round 1: Saki starts out with a heavy leg kick, and Ghita answers with a body kick, leg kick combo. Saki breaks out a spinning back kick and then Saki unloads a combo with big power. Trading blows, and this is obviously a much more damaging fight that the previous bouts we just saw. Saki throwing bombs, and BOOM -- lands the body shot in the combination, but he's not checking all the kicks from Ghita. Ghita is going to the body consistently, and Saki is backing away a bit. He's bombing Ghita, but not landing much. Saki returns some brutal leg kicks himself, but eats more body blows from Ghita, hitting Saki's forearms. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-10.

Round 2: Ghita throws a head kick as Saki moves in, but misses... and another. Ghita trying to down Saki with one blow here, but missing. Saki stalking Ghita to the corner, and lands a nice overhand. Ghita defends with kicks, but Saki has him in the corner. Right leg kick to left overhand from Saki, and Ghita defends with body kicks. Saki is eating a lot of kicks while sitting in Ghita's range. They are paying dividends. Saki throws a heavy head kick, but Ghita defends. Ghita is doing well at keeping Saki off balance. Saki throws a heavy overhand counter, blocked. Saki is obviously slowing from all of those kicks, and this isn't good for the Turkish-Dutch fighter. BloodyElbow.com scores the round 10-9, Daniel Ghita.

Round 3: Wow... Saki comes out with a spinning kick that nearly blasts Ghita's jawline. Saki working a front kick to the midsection, and he backs Ghita into the corner. Ghita circles out and lands a load of leg kicks. Saki working front kicks and trying to unload. As Saki unloads, Ghita kicks Saki's knee out from under him. Restart, and Saki is stalking. Saki kicks and gets his leg stuck in the rope. Ghita is slowed, but still peppering Saki's leg with shots. And Saki lines up a body shot, lands, then tries to transition to his chin... misses the face. Ghita is visibly tired, and Saki is starting to turn it on as the crowd chants his name. Body shot to an overhand, and he lands. Saki is aggressive, and Ghita is having problems. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Gokhan Saki.

We're heading to an extension round...

Extension Round: Saki can solidify a win here with some aggression as Ghita looks tired. Saki coming forward, throwing combinations, but not landing anything huge. He's doing a nice job at mixing in the leg kick to score though. Ghita's kicks are nearly non-existent now. Saki is throwing head to body combinations and exiting with a leg kick. Saki is bullying Ghita into the corner, kicking Ghita's legs, then unloading overhands. Ghita isn't busy at all, and Saki is by far the more active fighter. Ghita is now in the corner getting battered. All of Ghita's power is gone from his kicks, and it's a field day for Saki in this final round. Saki is dead tired as well, but I think he did enough to win the round. Ghita is trying to steal it, but the inactivity for most of the round can't help. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Gokhan Saki.

Gokhan Saki def. Daniel Ghita via Ext. Round unanimous decision

Quarterfinal #2 Fight: Semmy Schilt vs. Kyotaro

Round 1: Here we go! Kyotaro looks like a dwarf, as does everyone against Semmy. And we start off with a good ol' fashioned groin strike. Instant restart however, and Semmy is stalking. Semmy lands a stiff jab, and Kyotaro is trying to stay away from Semmy's kicks. Schilt lands a leg kick and continues backing Kyotaro up. And Semmy lands another jab. Kyotaro has stayed out of danger so far, and here he comes... Kyotaro comes forward with a flurry, but nothing significant. Kyotaro moves around the ring trying to avoid Semmy, and at the end of the round -- Semmy lands a jab. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Semmy Schilt.

Round 2: Semmy backs Kyotaro into the corner and attempts the knee, but misses. They separate, and Semmy puts Kyotaro in the corner again, lands a kick with a combination on the feet. Kyotaro is coming forward, but he can't get through the reach of Semmy. Semmy bangs out the jab over and over, trying to throw the knee in the mix. Kyotaro cannot counter at all, but then I eat my own words as he rushes forward and lands... one punch. Three punch combo with a jab landing for Semmy, and Kyotaro is wildly trying to do anything here to win. Semmy doesn't look dominant, but he's winning, that's for sure. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Semmy Schilt.

Round 3: Kyotaro aggressively lunges forward, but eats some jabs on his way in. He's trying to land the "Big Kabosh!", but Semmy's length is just too much. Kyotaro with some more rushing, and eats more jabs. Kyotaro is doing better than most fighters before him, but he is getting battered off balance when he tries to rush. BloodyElbow.com scores the round, 10-9 Semmy Schilt.

Semmy Schilt def. Kyotaro via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-28)

Quarterfinal #1 Fight: Peter Aerts vs. Mighty Mo

Round 1: Most of the early going is Mo trying to rush at Aerts and avoid his range, but Mo isn't landing at all. Aerts lands a groin shot when he finally gets distance, and we get a stoppage to check if Mo is okay. He says he's fine, and the action continues.

Aerts immediately lands a head kick and downs Mo, flat to his back. Mo gets up and gets his count, but he's clearly dazed. Aerts turns up the heat, throws a combination near the ropes and buzzes Mo's head as he falls to the ground from the punches. The referee steps in and stops the fight.

Peter Aerts def. Mighty Mo via knockout.

Reserve WGP Fight: Ewerton Teixeira vs. Errol Zimmerman.

Round 1 & 2: Technical difficulties prevented me from watching, but I'm back up and running. Teixeira won both the first two rounds, 20-18 Teixeira after two.

Round 3: Zimmerman coming out in this round much more aggressive, but Teixeira doesn't seem to be affected. Teixeira is relaxed and eating a few blows here and there, but he's obviously unconcerned with Zimmerman's power. He cruises through the round, and picks up the reserve fight win. Teixeira edges out Zimmerman 10-9 in final round as well. BloodyElbow.com scores it 30-27 for Ewerton Teixeira.

Ewerton Teixeira def. Errol Zimmerman via unanimous decision.

Peter Aerts def. Mighty Mo par KO.

WGP Réserve Fight: Teixeira Ewerton vs Zimmerman Errol.
